Alopecia Areata
Raising awareness is its own important form of advocacy. Ty has an auto immune disease that attacks his hair follicles called, Alopecia Areata. Alopecia can impact the growth of your hair, eyebrows, eye lashes and nails. Researchers and medical professionals aren’t sure what exactly causes Alopecia and there is no cure for the disease. Ty is seeing a pediatric dermatologist at Riley Children’s Hospital who specializes in hair loss. He first started showing symptoms in December when he woke up with his first golf ball size bald spot. Ty plans to advocate and participate in fundraisers to help fund research and the opportunity to provide children who have Alopecia Areata the ability to obtain wigs at little to no cost. Ty is doing really great and is staying positive. Thank you everyone for your support. For more information on Alopecia visit https://www.naaf.org/ National Alopecia Areata Foundation
